ANYTHING GOES was Bing Crosby’s final film with Paramount, and was perhaps an attempt to capatalise on the astronomical success of WHITE CHRISTMAS (but more about that later) . Donald O’Connor, Mitzi Gaynor and lithsome ballet star Zizi Jeanmaire appear alongside.

The film really bears no similarity to the Broadway “Anything Goes” assign for the fantastic Cole Porter win (and even that has been somewhat ransacked with several disagreeable additions from Sammy Cahn and James Van Heusen) . The unique production of “Anything Goes” was written by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse, with later revisions by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. The film ditches the entire modern fable in favour of a Sidney Sheldon-penned screenplay.
The epic concerns a suave Broadway star (Bing Crosby) who is paired with a brash TV personality (Donald O’Connor) in a modern Broadway demonstrate. Whilst on separate vacations, they each hire who they absorb is the ideal leading-lady for the upcoming show: a elegant blonde American showgirl (Gaynor) and a dramatic Parisian cabaret star (Jeanmaire) . They all board the luxury liner headed support to Unique York, trying their best to settle on which girl they will have to tumble…but of course, treasure wins the day.

With the colossal success of WHITE CHRISTMAS, Paramount hoped to capatilise on it’s success by having Bing star in another 4-hander “catalogue” musical, built around the Cole Porter-”Anything Goes” glean. What emerged was hardly a hit, but ANYTHING GOES is a charming afternoon of entertainment.
Zizi Jeanmaire is ideally-showcased in 2 routines staged by her husband Roland Petit: a rousing “I Score a Kick Out of You” and a striking “Dream Ballet”. Her acting is well-judged and she offers an all-round accomplished performance in her second feature film (following HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN) . Mitzi Gaynor and her bubbly mask energy is in handsome perform here, performing the Title Number as well as “It’s De-Lovely” with O’Connor.
Capable character actors Phil Harris and Kurt Kasznar are featured in grand supporting roles. View closely for Bess Flowers, the legendary “featured extra”, in the ship dining-room sequences.
Paramount’s DVD offers a pristine 16:9 image, though sadly no extra features whatsoever. But ANYTHING GOES was never even released on videocassette, so a DVD release of this film has been a nice surprise.
Anything Goes boasts a gigantic cast. Bing Crosby and Donald O’Connor play two entertainers called Bill Benson and Ted Adams respectively; and Mitzi Gaynor and Zizi Jeanmarie play dancing actresses named Patsy Blair and Gaby Duval respectively.
The area revolves around the world of entertainment. Bill and Ted are going to obtain in a Broadway demonstrate together; and with their terribly burly egos both men simply hold that they have the outlandish prerogative to settle the leading lady for the demonstrate. On the vivid side, both Bill and Ted determine very talented young ladies to play the leading female role. Bill chooses American dancer Patsy Blair; and Ted chooses the French starlet Gaby Duval. However, danger heats up speedy when neither man can secure up the gumption to exclaim one of the two ladies that she is not needed for the expose after all. When all four of them are on a ship headed from Europe to Novel York where the prove will initiate things only become more complicated. How will Bill and Ted handle this sticky site? Will they have a tug of war over which one has to do the dirty work of firing one of the ladies? Will each lady pause when they examine that only one of them is needed? No spoilers here, folks–you’ll have to leer the movie to secure out!
They all do a superlative job with the script that they’re given which, by Hollywood musical standards, is detached rather thin. The singing and dancing is what carries this movie, especially when Patsy (Mitzi Gaynor) and her male backup dancers produce “Anything Goes.” I loved the panache with which Gaby Duval (Zizi Jeanmarie) and her backup dancers create both “I Bag A Kick Out Of You” as well as the extravagant and pretty “dream sequence” when Gaby imagines herself dancing with people in Times Square. Other musical numbers are more ordinary or even forgettable, especially the one in which Donald O’Connor as Ted Adams dances with some children on the ship to Fresh York. Then again, the finale of the cast performing “Blow Gabriel Blow” has style and obedient taste; and “Blow Gabriel Blow” is a strong number to demolish this film.
The Technicolor calm shines and the crystal obvious sound will please you, too. The choreography of the dance scenes stuns you with its fastidious attention to detail and the cinematography frames the characters well in each frame. Pleasurable job on both counts!
The DVD offers nothing in the device of extras. You can opinion the whole movie straight through or fair bewitch scenes you wish to recognize again; but that’s the extent of it, I’m petrified. Deliver.
Nevertheless, Bing Crosby fans will delight in this version of Anything Goes. He sings and dances very, very well–and he makes it all discover so easy. Of course, Donald O’Connor sparkles like the legal champ that he always was in all his dancing scenes. Donald’s energy, combined with the energy of Mitzi Gaynor and Zizi Jeanmarie, pops out at you and all three performers dance and divulge to have your attention well.
I must caution that the dwelling runs thin in this movie. However, many musicals of this era had this characteristic so perhaps you won’t be surprised. I recommend this movie for fans of the huge Hollywood musicals of the 1940s and 1950s. In the final analysis, I give Anything Goes four stars instead of five because of the thin status and a few numbers that impartial don’t quite do the trick.

Oklahoma City detective Grace Hanadarko is never worthy of one for the straight-and-narrow. She is frequently forced to balance her personal issues with smoking, drinking, and sex with difficulties between her family and friends, her high-stress job in law enforcement — and not to mention her interactions with an angel named “Earl” who has been sent by God to convince Grace to turn away from her execrable ways to God. Grace may be on the road to hell, but, with Earl’s spiritual guidance, she may be able to set aside herself.

Saving Grace: Season 2 follows the continued adventures of Grace as she deals with her turbulent relationship with fellow detective Ham, her friends’ Doug and Maggie’s impending wedding, the ever-present dread of death for Grace’s friend Leon, the day-to-day drama of working with homicides, the constantly lurking memory of the 1993 Oklahoma City bombing and of course, Grace’s breeze through faith. While objective as intense as the first season, Season Two builds on the spiritual questions and character-centric stories that the series is known for.
The cast of Saving Grace is phenomenal, led by Holly Hunter’s believable, relate-able performance as Grace. Other key performances include Leon Rippy (Earl) and Bokeem Woodbine (Leon), who have improbable intensity and chemistry on camouflage that earn their semi-intellectual conversations about death, life and faith resonate with viewers and force them to judge on their absorb lives. Kenny Johnson (“Ham”) has perfect chemistry with Hunter and delivers a heartfelt performance as a passionate detective who must balance his weird, off-again, on-again physical relationship with Grace while smooth maintaining a clear level of professionalism.

While the plots of Saving Grace seem a petite soap opera-like and can occasionally become diluted and slow-paced, each episode is packed with some of the most improbable character development and complex character relationships on television. While the station can occasionally became inaccessible for me, the characters kept pulling me in and forcing me to withhold watching on the edge of my seat honest to gawk what would happen next in the crazy, dramatic world of these characters. The series ends with a bang that will leave viewers moved and emotionally drained.
This DVD area includes all 14 episodes from Season 2, in widescreen format. The site also includes two featurettes that document the many successes of Saving Grace — both on television and in the person lives of the actors — and a Hollywood-style wrap party where the cast reflects on the series’ second season. While these features give an bright eye into the heart unhurried the drama, it honest seems like there could have been more to it — maybe some episode commentary, more behind-the-scenes footage or even a few deleted or extended scenes that unprejudiced didn’t fabricate the final slit.
I also personally enjoyed the fact that this series is spot in Oklahoma City rather than in Original York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, or one of the typical locations for cop dramas. Having this novel setting helped to bring something recent to a seemingly ancient out (and overdone) genre.
Saving Grace: Season 2 is a expansive series for fans of character-driven dramas and cop-associated shows that have a limited more depth to them than honest figuring out who-dunnit. Each episode delivers a thrilling emotional flow that will stick with viewers long after they turn off the television.
Until The Closer, TNT was tiny more than a dumping ground for shows which had long ago reached syndication and needed a secondary arena to rake in the cash. The Closer changed everything for TNT; the cable staple realized there might be something to having a few novel series under their belt. A few years later they debuted Saving Grace and lo and stare the series became a magnet for awards nominations. Saving Grace takes a precarious balance between agonizing drama the lighthearted levity of family oriented programs like 7th Heaven.
Grace Hanadarko (Holly Hunter) drinks heavily, has promiscuous sex and now finds herself the perpetrator of a hit and hurry accident. With the man lying at the foot of her bumper, Grace pleads with God to give her a second chance at life and receives a prompt visit from Earl (Leon Rippy), an angel. Earl brings tidings of her hellbent fate and beckons her encourage onto a lawful path free of booze and one-night stands. Grace doesn’t give them up, but she finds novel meaning in life as she pursues her career on the police force helping people along the plan. With her professional and personal life in constant intersection, it only seems natural that she pursues her fellow Ham Dewey (Kenny Johnson) .
The cliffhanger finale of the first season left audiences perilous as to the fate of Father Patrick Murphy (Rene Auberjonois), a priest who raped Grace when she was young. However the epic is wrapped up quite abruptly and the demonstrate returns to its steady overarching plot: the drama of Ham and Grace. A few cases pop up here and there that last longer than their one episode setting, but for the most fraction Saving Grace remains a single-serving episodic prove – which is a shame. Shows like Saving Grace are at their best when spot elements spill over from one episode to the next, but Saving Grace rarely does. The only just thread that follows all the design through is Grace’s tangled savor life. There’s also an convey with the all too convenient nature of each episode’s site. What are the odds that Grace’s car was once fervent in a heist? Or that her niece would be at a drug party where an overdose occurs? Or that someone she knows is targeted by a conman? There’s some semblance of an arc which asserts itself in the final four episodes where Grace’s link to a death row inmate Leon Cooley (Bokeem Woodbine) receives an infusion of importance.
Considering she’s a police officer (whose badge would have been suspended long ago for her reckless behavior), there’s no need to compose plots out of coincidence. She works in a police dwelling – dozens of crimes arrive through the office on a daily basis, why spend serendipity to divine each episode’s chronicle?
Saving Grace’s redeeming factor is the strong characterization and huge guest appearances. Holly Hunter flails about with no direction as the tale demands, and she’s rather believable in it all. She does, however, stray into melodrama on occasion inducing a few look rolls from the viewer. Kenney Johnson, the ill-fated Lem from The Shield, really steps up his game from his previous role and rends his garments in equal scope to Hunter. The two clearly feed off each other in how they bear their roles, so when one goes over the top, the other usually isn’t too far gradual. On the plus side, Kathy Baker, Elias Koteas, Christina Ricci, Amy Madigan and Dee Wallace get guest appearances.
DVD Extra Features:
Saving Grace: Season Two sorely disappoints on the extras front. The first featurette is nothing but writer Nancy Miller and Holly Hunter tooting one another’s horns about how stout they are. Considering the indicate isn’t groundbreaking their mutual praise comes across as nauseating and undeserved. The second section features Dyland Minnette, who plays youngin’ Clay, interviewing cast and crew on the red carpet for the wrap party of Saving Grace’s second season. This is a monumental extinguish of time – nothing titillating is said, ever.

In case you’re unbiased tuning in, no this isn’t the Filmation version of the exhibit so many of us retract with warm fuzzies from our youth. This is in fact the third (and most current) captivating iteration of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Produced for Cartoon Network by Mike Young
Productions, this version ran from 2002 until 2004 where it went for two burly seasons (26 in the first season, 13 in the second) . Along the device it managed to snag a very well deserved Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing (2004) .
While there are few who could argue successfully that anything could replace the modern Filmation series, Mike Young Productions managed to buy all of the elements that made the modern so successful and to bring them up to fresh standards of animation quality, sound work, and script writing. As a result the mythos had been brought to an entirely fresh generation of fans while simultaneously magnificent fans of the current.
Without giving too distinguished away (I abhor spoilers personally), I will say that the origins of Snake Mountain will initiate to unfold in the second-half of the first season in addition to the complete origin of the Sunless Hemisphere which imprisons Skeletor and his minions. Novel characters are plentiful as well and have some slick back-story efforts, which form even the current Mattel toys a lot more dapper. Among the notables includes the stories of Two-Bad, Cobra Kahn, Cyclone, Roboto, Moss Man, Zodak, and Stinkor. Many of these characters were never fully fleshed out in the modern explain (if they appeared at all) and would have remained only in the imaginations of those who played with the toys if not for the spectacular grief here. We are also treated to a couple of current looks for He-Man himself including an amped up version of he and Skeletor in combat and his ever impressive winter gear which includes a flowing fur cape and a heavy battle ax.
The Snakemen element introduced in the first season develops into sheer brilliance in the second (and unfortunately final) season! Not to insinuate that the Masters didn’t have their hands fleshy as it was with Skeletor and his minions, this time around the threats to peace and justice arrive in from all angles in the effect of the Skeletor and company, the Snake Men, and the Sinful Horde! Yes, you read that correctly- She-Ra’s arch nemesis, Hordak, who unprejudiced so happens to have been Skeletor’s mentor, shows up in Season 2 within Skeletor’s origin epic that finally ties all of the loose threads of Mattel’s franchise together once and for all.
I often like to wonder what ground Mike Young’s team would have covered had the demonstrate continued. Would they have expanded to include He-Man’s sister (She-Ra’s) narrative arc? Could have writer Larry DeTillio revisited some of his wise dragon influence? A shame that we’ll probably never know.
All in all, the prove simply continued to beget upon the foundation first residence by Filmation in the 1980s and thanks to Mill Creek Entertainment, can be yours in its entirety for the cost of each of the single season releases.
to terrible this had to demolish while it was doing some really superior record telling not to mention improbable art work, tons of action, it almost seems as some sort of mystery as why this fell off the face of the radar abruptly. Why would such a righteous cartoon be pulled off the air? Anyhow this is apt for kids and adults (assuming they grew up with the recent) it reminds me of the Utter cats simply with more characters, it would be awesome if the people who did this somehow resurrected the thundercats in the same modern-he-man style. One minor gripe is the fact that prince Adam must be himself before turning into he-man i derive this character whiny, wimpy, and unneeded for the note.
Why unbiased not have He-Man available at all times? unbiased like the x-men you don’t behold Wolverine having to ‘become somebody’ it was top-notch in the first personally i feel it was unnecessary to be in this recent version though i can understand why they ragged it because it gives the stories more longevity without Adam, the note would be overly short and the tale element would be uninteresting. Anyway he’s a minor irritant to me but i like the point to and the best share of the series is the slay with a sure message that most of if not all other toons these do not have. Only g.i. joe, thundercats, transformers, and He-man to my knowledge have a special message at the ruin of the episode i feel this is a pleasant right for kids, why they do not set these in cartoons anymore i do not know. Overall an righteous place to add to your collection. If it was not for roar baby prince adam, it would be 5 star.

Repo Man
.
Repo Man is completely unclassifiable. Amusing, dismal, biting, thrilling, confusing, action, adventure, it’s all there. Emilio Estevez plays Otto, a “white suburban punk” living in LA’s sprawl, with a nowhere job that he loses in the film’s second scene. When his hippie parents admit they sent his college fund to a TV preacher (We’re sending Bibles to El Salvador!), Otto meets Bud (Harry Dean Stanton), a cocaine-driven Repo Man who needs an extra driver. Otto joins the firm and soon learns the Repo Code; Bud’s version (You study, a Repo Man gets himself INTO tense situations), and the other regulars at Helping Hand Auto section their philosophies too. Light finds Bud’s conception dead but is willing to handle shoot-outs when he’s not reading parodies of Scientology (Diuretix), Miller seems completely neuron-fried (The more you drive, the less colorful you are), and Oly is along to do a four-pack. (Did you watch the four experienced Repo Men are named after beers? ) Let’s go regain a drink, kid!
Multiple location strands at first seem unrelated, but bind together closer and tighter as the film moves along. Otto and the other Repo Men are on the lookout for a 1964 Chevy Malibu, with a $25,000 bounty. So are some creepy FBI agents, who stalk and kidnap Otto. And so are Helping Hand’s arch-rivals, who careen into the set whenever things are getting uninteresting. The car’s driven by a nuclear physicist in from Los Alamos, who warned a CHP officer not to discover in the trunk (with deadly results) . Otto’s punk friends accumulate the car while breaking into a pharmaceutical factory, but they’re too dead to hold it. (These three are some of the dumbest criminals ever shown in film, including Kevin Kline’s Otto in _A Fish Called Wanda_) Otto finds admire, after a fashion, but since this is Reaganesque LA, even his girlfriend has her maintain motives. (“Otto! What about our relationship? ” Otto’s acknowledge is a intelligent respond to Cary Grant’s last line in Gone with the Wind.)
The film abounds with hilarious throw-away lines, signs, and labels. Several scenes choose station in food stores, and all the food is generically labeled. Multiple viewings are required to accept them all; be distinct to read all the signs in the windows. Even the TV preacher shows up on several television sets. Repo Man takes its structure from Miller’s bizarre rant about the cosmic latticework of interconnectedness, because everything is interconnected, and Miller turns out to be accurate about all of it by the ruin. “And flying saucers are… You got it. Time Machines.”

Top it off with a TERRIFIC sound track by Iggy Pop, Shadowy Flag, The Circle Jerks, and a host of others from the punk scene and this is one of the best movies ever made.
Every decade, there seems to be a movie that defines the angst of the culture and the subculture, the collective feeling that something is unfriendly with the establishment. To call this zeitgeist is misleading; these films don’t think the spirit of the times as distinguished as they somehow tap into the opposite – they manage to get an all-around sense of unease about the place of the world. In the 1960s, it was The Graduate and the bombshell contemplate at the extinguish. For the 1990s, Fight Club identified many things obnoxious both with pop culture and those acting in rebellion against it. For the Reagan-saturated 1980s, the distinction falls squarely on Alex Cox’s debut film Repo Man. In one of his first roles, Emilio Estevez plays Otto, a street punk who loses his job and college savings in the same day due to misunderstandings and television preachers. At the demolish of his rope financially and mentally, he agrees to get a fleet 20 bucks by helping experienced repo man Bud (Harry Dean Stanton) . Realizing the potential to manufacture a kindly living, and an “intense” life in his current job, Otto signs up with the crew and becomes a repo man. On the map, he meets an novel woman (Olivia Barash) whom he swiftly falls in lust with. When word comes down the wire that there’s an gigantic commission out on a 1964 Chevy Malibu, Otto and all the other repo men area out to contemplate for the car with the mammoth catch. What they bag in the trunk is so fresh, it will change everything – EVERYTHING.
What makes Repo Man so modern is the positive satirization not only of regular, and in this case conservative Reagean-esque, culture, from the “John Wayne was [gay]” speech to Bud’s trashing of Russia, but the send-ups of punk culture (Let’s go do some crimes! Yeah, let’s win sushi and not pay!) Otto is the everyman in every sense of the word, as he – like us – realizes that no matter what culture he tries to be a portion of, he never fits in, and those strains of culture are so rife with stupidity and hypocrisy that he no longer wants to belong. Like The Graduate and Fight Club, Repo Man also refuses to supply a stock acknowledge, instead making the audience examine instead of spoonfeeding them. Plus, it’s roll-on-the-floor droll, with some of the best oneliners since Sinful Dumb 2 or Terminator 2. Alex Cox made Repo Man while smooth in film school, and he basically admits it’s runt more than a trumped-up student film. The lack of budget is sure at times, but the killer screenplay and direction more than beget up for that limited fault. As usual, the movie looks reliable on Anchor Bay’s DVD; the sound and video are as certain as you can ask for, with a remixed 5.1 audio track to boot. There’s a immense commentary track with Alex Cox, some castmembers (sadly, no Harry Dean or Emilio), and some crew; it’s a lot like a Kevin Smith commentary, with everyone sitting in one room, having a mountainous time talking about a mountainous film. There are no other extras to boom of, unless you catch the collector’s tin (which does not gawk like the normal Repo Man conceal – it looks like a California license plate, with Repo Man on it) . The collector’s tin has the soundtrack on CD and a booklet about the movie with a cramped droll in it. Unless you are a major fan or must have the best of the best of the best edition, there’s no need to assume the more expensive version, but if you want it, you’d better regain it hastily, because at 30,000 copies, it’ll be gone before you know it.
I would definitely check this movie out if you can, and would recommend buying it to anyone who asked.

Rambo
.
I must admit, that as of unusual I have enjoyed unique mainstream movies regardless if they are released to the theater or directly to video so I can abase them. In other words, I truly fetch pleasure in ripping movies apart. It has been my perception, my perception, that about 70% of movies made in the past 5 to 6 years are unpleasant.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Rambo! Click Here
One might ask why I feel this device, well it is rather simple. Most movies are a gallop in for a recent phone, car or maybe to promote a soundtrack. These movies also rely more on special effects and visual stimulation, where acting, directing and tale prefer the backseat. Therefore, movies (for the most section) in original times are nothing more than a 90 to 100 limited commercial.
Then of course there are the movies that are so over the top they are objective down correct humorous. This is the perception I had when I saw the trailer for “Rambo” (it was titled “John Rambo” when I first viewed it on the internet) . I understanding, “What the hell is Stallone thinking”? I didn’t gape the most novel “Rocky”, but I heard it wasn’t any honorable. I didn’t really care too powerful about the quality of a original “Rocky” movie, but I felt like there was nothing else to do and all doors were closed when “Rocky 5″ was made. Why was Stallone going support to Rocky? Was there a point to it? Now he is going to acquire another Rambo movie, why? Both these characters whose names open with “R” originate a return after not being seen for almost 20 years?

I digress to the trailer for Rambo I saw on the internet. I was laughing so hard I couldn’t catch it. The map this movie was presented was silly. I had said to my brother and some friends, “I can’t wait to peek this movie, I need a satisfactory laugh”. Then the day came, it was a work night (the same as a school night, but you go to work early the next day instead of school) and I went to a 9:40pm showing with my brother and two of our friends. I was so pumped and all four of us were ready to laugh very hard. As a side brand, this is the first time I had been in a movie theater to see a unique release in a very long time.
We watched and we absorbed this movie and when the demolish credits rolled and the lights came succor on in the theater we were speechless. I conception this was the first fantastic and enchanting film I had seen in a long time. (So did everyone else in my thought party.) I couldn’t possess it. I have seen all the other Rambo films and yes they were moving, but I wouldn’t say they were deep or compelling pieces of cinema. This current Rambo movie had something to say.
It followed a different format, it seemed more dramatic and the violence (there was plenty of it) was brutal and candid. When I say candid, I mean that many of things that happened in this movie, happens in the loyal world.
The residence of this film is rather simple, Rambo now lives in Southeastern Asia arrive Burma and some American humanitarians need a guide and lumber by boat to provide health care, food and education to the awful people in the set. They regain John Rambo and after some persuasions from a female team member (Julie Benz) Rambo signs on.
Consequently, there is a ample militant and fundamental group that has nothing better to do than torture and massacre the less fortunate people in their country. It doesn’t bewitch a wizard to figure out what happens next, Rambo, guns, violence, death, and blah, blah, blah. However, the violence doesn’t seem to be moot or without justification if that makes sense. The best comparison I can construct is to “Saving Private Ryan”, the violence in that film was graphic and at times over the top, but made a point to characterize the reality that was World War 2. “Rambo” has the precise type of feel to it with respect to violence being graphic, over the top and making a point. Mind you I am not saying that “Rambo is a better film or as noble as “Saving Private Ryan”, but it was conventional more as a frame of reference. Oddly enough, “Saving Private Ryan” came out in 1998 and “Rambo” came out ten years later (2008), perhaps in 2018 there will be another violent film with a message.
Stallone did a wonderful job too in this film he gave a rather minimal performance, not noteworthy dialogue but did expose a level of dichotomy towards his emotions to events in the area. I felt the fable was also simplistic, but it worked, the movie didn’t need a multi-leveled storyline. I also felt the direction of the film was very great too; by the scheme Sly wrote and directed this movie.
“Rambo” was a motion portray that stirred myriad thoughts in my head when it was over. It made me believe how revolting and disgusting it is that there are unexcited countries in the world that can’t acquire health care or are being “controlled” and/or restricted to obvious living conditions by a dictatorship or totalitarian government that results to violence or casualties of human lives. It also made me believe how insane it is that U.S. presidential candidates are able to raise thousands, if not millions, of dollars for their campaigns, but when they rep into office, it then becomes difficult to “raise” money for the things they promised before they were the incumbent. Then I understanding about how everyone wants to go “green” and put the environment, yet it costs more money and there is less tax breaks to “go green”. Not to mention Earth Day is only one day a year, rather than year long recognition. What about relying on fossil fuel when there are other forms of fuel for our cars/machines? Or that many people are more up to date with Reality Television than what is going on in the world.
In conclusion, I am not definite this was Sylvester Stallone’s draw to hump the pot of current social sciences or in my case promote schizophrenia when making this movie. However, I felt this film didn’t pull any punches and says a lot about the world we live in, on many levels. I recommend this film to anyone who wants an sight opening experience. This is a lot coming from a person who understanding this movie was going to be the number one unintentional comedy of 2008 and now believes it was one of the best movies made in a very long time.
Sly, I commend you.
Of all the Rambo movies this one is the best. The most violent, brutal blooming movie I have ever seen. Emotionally draining account of some do gooders that want to grasp medicine and assist to a group of abominable opressed people in Burma. They are under control of the brutal military that wants no one to hear this legend let alone attend these people. The do gooders talk Rambo into taking them up river to the settlement. He is reluctant to occupy them but the woman with the group talks him into taking them. Of course they are taken by the military and most everyone in the village is slaughtered. Someone from relieve home comes looking for them when they never return home. Rambo takes a band of merceneries to the settlement to bring them aid. The do-gooders are held captive and tortured. It’s nonstop heartpounding action after Rambo gets there.
Iv’e never seen anything like the violence in this movie. It’s amazing.
It’s filmed in Burma and the cinemaphotography is outstanding. Glowing scenery. Marvelous exhaust of light and shadowy and camera angles. Very well done.
Be prepared for the violence because it is indecent. What’s shown in this movie is going on there as I insist. We don’t hear the sage in the media. Stallone made this movie with Burmese people as actors and they were all at risk making this movie. Stallone peaceful has it at 61 years.
If you don’t like Rambo then don’t bother. Otherwise it’s highly intelligent!

Jack Nicholson shines in his sensitive, tour de force performance as Warren Schmidt, the vice president of an insurance company who finds retirement anything but fulfilling. In fact, his world starts to crumble in short order, along with his relationships, his priorities and his very sanity. A superficial reading would pigeonhole Schmidt as Willy Loman retread, minus the heart condition, but Alexander Payne plumbs deeper emotional currents with this astonishing film – the sort of film that reminds you why you go to movies in the first station. To the director’s credit, the film never crosses the line (so popular in today’s Hollywood “output”) of ridiculing its characters and their sensibilities. Invent no mistake: Midwestern middle-class values go under the magnifying glass, but objective when the viewer starts to feel top-notch, zing! Payne pulls you support from the brink, and you accept yourself caring deeply about Warren Schmidt and his universal quandary. The editing, the supporting cast (especially Kathy Bates), and the cinematography are well-nigh perfect, which allow Nicholson to coast. The layers of his character, a man who sees the truth but dares not philosophize it to the people closest to him, arrive to a boil of mixed emotions of inflame, anxiety and despair by the film’s last scenes and transcendent finale.
This film is about Warren Schmidt, a Nebraskan in his mid sixties, who is newly retired from his job as assistant vice president for an insurance firm. He is clearly a man who is not in touch with his feelings or his life, living it by the book, so to articulate. He is disconnected from the reality around him, living as unobtrusively as he can. This is evident good from the beginning of the film.
His life really begins when he retires, as a series of life jarring changes occur. His wife of forty two years, Helen (June Squibb), suddenly dies. She is a domineering woman whom he loved on some level but for whom he was unable to issue powerful feeling while she was serene living, even though there were many things about her that irritated him. She, however, managed to have had a secret life of which he had not been a portion. It seems that she was not all that jubilant with Schmidt, herself. It is an unwelcome surprise that colors his world when he discovers it but, at the same time, serves to initiate to ease the afflict of separation for him. There are some silly scenes that segue from this discovery.
Their only child, Jeannie (Hope Davis), lives in Denver, Colorado and is about to catch married to Randall Hertzel (Dermot Mulroney), a dimwitted, waterbed salesman whom Schmidt cannot abide. He learns some truths about the trusty site of his beget relationship with his daughter, Jeannie, and it is not the idealized relationship that he concept he had. In fact, he learns honest how disconnected he is from his daughter, who is really a veritable stranger to him, as was his wife. Moreover, not even his best friend, Ray (Lou Cariou), was whom Schmidt understanding him to be.

When Schmidt travels to Colorado for the wedding, he stays with the groom’s mother, Roberta Hertzel, a considerable married, earthy, and passionate divorcee, who is comfortable with herself and not insecure to snort her feelings. She is a sort of flower child/earth mother holdover from the slack nineteen sixties, early seventies. She tries to acquire a connection with him but this proves to be too distinguished for Schmidt, as he scurries for veil to the Winnebago in which he travels.
Lacking an emotional connection with any other human being, Schmidt sponsors a six year stale, Tanzanian child through a charitable agency, and begins sending him letters, detailing his life as he sees it. It is more of a catharsis for Schmidt, rather than an attempt at right communication with a child. This method also serves to stammer the viewer honest how Schmidt perceives his life. When he receives a letter with something the child has sent him, the opinion that someone has actually view of him opens the emotional floodgates for Schmidt and unleashes all those repressed feelings of inflame, sadness, loss, harm, suffering, in one fell swoop.
Jack Nicholson gives an gracious performance as the repressed Midwesterner who only begins to pick up in touch with his feelings the destroy of his life spectrum. He gives a noble anecdote of a man who is making his diagram in, what is for him, uncharted territory. Silly, poignant and unlit, it is a performance that is well nuanced. June Squibb is perfectly cast in the role of the Helen, Schmidt’s wife. Her apple cheeked countenance and dumpy, matronly observe exemplify the stereotypic senior citizen housewife. Helen’s penchant for order and cleanliness is brought home by Ms. Squibb’s performance, and Helen fittingly dies while vacuuming the laundry room.

Kathy Bates is fantastic as the somewhat bohemian, earth mother figure in the film. Her worthy talked about nude scene was natural and in keeping with her role. I applaud her courage in doing it, given the emphasis on thinness in Hollywood. While many reviled her for doing it, hers is a considerable more realistic reflection of what the body of a woman in her fifties or sixties actually looks like. Let me scream you, Jack Nicholson’s body doesn’t stare remarkable better either, but he was not reviled for it. There composed continues to be a double standard for men and women, when it comes to excess avoirdupois.
Dermot Mulroney is terrific as the sensitive, easy going groom to be who seems to lack the beefy quid. Mulroney makes his character quite a likable one. Unfortunately, Hope Davis, as Jeannie Schmidt, serves to build her character a thoroughly poor one. It is unclear, however, whether this was the intended finish. Howard Hesseman is incredible as the groom’s father, Larry Hertzel, and he gets a lot of mileage out of this bit fraction. Lou Cariou is advantageous as Schmidt’s erstwhile best friend, Ray.
All in all, this a film well worth watching. The baby boomers out there should retract trace. It is mild not too unhurried to avoid ending up like Schmidt.

I really enjoyed this film, based upon the Pulitzer Prize winning current, “The Mambo Kings Play Songs of Adore” by Oscar Hijuelos. With its sexy, pulsating, and rhythmic soundtrack, as well as the strong performances by the entire cast, this film is highly interesting.
The events in this sharply stylized period film lift station in the nineteen fifties, at the height of the mambo dance craze. Two young Cuban musicians, brothers Cesar (Armand Assante) and Nestor Castillo (Antonio Banderas), cruise Cuba after a appreciate triangle takes a potentially deadly twist. The savor sick Nestor leaves unhurried the appreciate of his life, the glorious Maria Rivera (Talisa Soto), now married to his romantic rival.
The brothers come in Unusual York, where Cesar meets the lushly sensuous, blonde bombshell, Lana Lake (Cathy Moriarty) . They eventually marry, while Nestor, smooth carrying a torch for Maria, meets the sedate and quietly lovely Delores Fuentes (Maruschka Detmers), whom he eventually marries. Given a helping hand by fellow Cuban, Desi Arnaz, Sr. (Desi Arnaz, Jr.), Cesar and Nestor shortly become stars of the dance halls and clubs they play, where they are christened the “Mambo Kings”.

Unfortunately, Cesar’s dreams are not necessarily Nestor’s dreams and conflicts arise. The brothers also accelerate into effort when Cesar’s arrogance pits him against a musical syndicate that rules the clubs and dance halls with an iron hand, derailing their careers for a time. Moreover, Nestor’s marriage is seriously shocked, because of his obsession with his lost savor. Detached, no matter what, there is always the music.
Armand Assante gives an over-the-top, manic performance as Cesar, the older brother whose arrogance and single-minded ambition nearly alienates his brother. He over-acts the fragment, making his character almost cartoonish, at times. It is as if he were drowning in his beget machismo. Composed, he infuses the role with a sure energy that makes him strangely compelling. Moreover, the guy can really dance!
It is the bittersweet performance by Antonio Banderas, however, that takes one’s breath away. Antonio Banderas infuses the role of the artistic, younger brother, Nestor, with a poignancy, sensitivity, and sensuousness that is noteworthy. He handles the role with a delicacy that nearly brought tears to my eyes. Banderas makes the viewer feel Nestor’s injure, so palpable is his exertion over his lost adore, Maria. When he sings his ode to her, “”Fine Maria of My Soul”, the viewer is transfixed, so beautifully does he squawk it.

Look for a cameo by the slack Tito Puente. The gradual Celia Cruz also appears in this film, cast as Evalina Montoya, a accepted club singer. The viewer is in for a treat with these two salsa greats doing what they do best. It was also somewhat eerie to examine the role of Desi Arnaz, Sr. played by his staunch life son, Desi Arnaz, Jr., as the resemblance is so mighty, just down to the accent. Special tag should also be taken of Roscoe Lee Brown’s silky performance as club impresario Fernando Perez.
The film captures the flavor of the nineteen fifties, when night clubs were synonymous with night life, and stout bands unruffled held sway. I particularly enjoyed this film, because my parents emigrated from Cuba. Having grown up in Current York City during the nineteen fifties, this film holds a positive amount of nostalgia for me.
Definitely on my top 10. The Mambo Kings has several things that accomplish it an all time common. First, it uses the medium to pull you in an give you the feeling you are fraction of the moment. The sets, costumes, cars, and music are detailed to perfection. Especially the music! Cameo’s by the astronomical singers of Cuban music originate it true. Celia Cruz and the leisurely Tito Puente are awesome! The theme song is comely and nothing less than haunting. Check out extraordinary soundtrack.
Second, the place takes some recent twists and turns. The relationship between two brother seems formulaic at the beginning and then both characters accumulate unexpected depth and traits. I enjoy that both Antonio Banderas (this was his first Hollywood film) and Armand Assante give their best performances to date.

Confused by all the Army of Darkness DVD releases (some in print, some out of print, some lingering halfway between)? I know I was. But I’ve done some research and figured it out, and here’s how it breaks down:
Buy,Download, Or Stream Army of Darkness! Click Here
1. The novel DVD release– was the modern theatrical version of the movie with few extras. Ample relate, obedient sound, S-Mart ending. If you unprejudiced want to observe the best available version of the movie, you might catch this one (if you can tranquil salvage it; it’s out of print now) . It also has the familiar movie poster camouflage with an overly muscled Bruce and the hokey “Indecent on gas” slogan.
2. The director’s cut– with the comic Molly Hatchet camouflage and the modern ending. There are many minuses: key lines are changed (not necessarily for the better) . Distinguished of the footage looks really unsuitable, including the entire concluding battle. All the deleted scenes have the feel of an eBay-purchased bootleg. Bottom line: AOD fans will like to sight the material, but this is hardly the movie’s best presentation. It’s mild circulating but they’re not making any more of them.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Army of Darkness! Click Here
3. The special edition– probably the best DVD release of the movie to date. The 2 disc version (which, like the director’s slit, is nearing the extinguish of its availability) is sizable. It features both the watchable theatrical version and the borderline-unwatchable director’s chop. It has commentary, unlike every other release, although the commentary is only available when viewing the director’s crop. It has a making-of featurette.
The single disc version (now the principal version of AOD available) is only a shrimp downgrade; basically, it’s the theatrical release, lookin’ and soundin’ fair, with the recent ending as an extra, and the making of featurette also included. (The commentary is sadly missing.)
In summary: You can’t go unfriendly with the single disc special edition or the even better double disc special edition. Avoid the director’s nick unless you already occupy the current DVD and unprejudiced want to study all the fresh footage in all its grainy glory. The current DVD is a pleasing catch if you honest wanna explore the movie, already.
2009 edit: to determined up some confusion in comments on this review, I wrote this eight long years ago. “Army” probably has five unique DVD editions since then, and I’m sorry to portray that I don’t care enough to support buying and comparing them. My experience so far has been that they retain releasing fresh versions with exiguous regard for what people really want. In my eyes, a definitive version would be:
1. The main feature would be the theatrical version, fully restored and anamorphic.
2. Deleted scenes and the alternate ending would be cleaned up and well-presented as extras – I know this is possible because I acquire an Australian DVD of the movie that has them looking a lot cleaner than I’ve seen on all the older American versions. It would be also tall if they had a menu option to sight the theatrical slice with some of the deleted scenes added support in – in particular the longer (and more cohesive) windmill battle with the mini-Bruces should never have been trimmed down; I’d appreciate to recognize that in corpulent as share of the movie. There’s a sever that plays on some TV channel (AMC maybe? ) that includes this scene, but unfortunately other parts are changed to their detriment – not a gargantuan trade-off. I reflect most fans of the movie occupy the fresh version of the movie – the S-mart ending, the new one-liners, etc. – but don’t mind seeing some additional scenes thrown in.
3. Commentary, making-of featurette, etc. all included. The track picture of this stuff on previous releases has been very spotty.
4. And finally do it lawful – effect this version (probably a 2 DVD station) in print and obtain rid of the other ones, and Sustain it in print. Fans are tired of re-buying this movie unprejudiced to salvage out that it’s the same damn thing with a line or scene changed… if that. Let’s tie a shipshape bow on this thing and be done with it. I’m as stout a fan as they advance and I stopped buying the current DVDs a couple versions ago.
For the sake of clarity, I unbiased want to say that there is no map I could review any version of Army of Darkness without giving it five stars. It is a unique classic which I can peek over and over again. Seeing the Exiguous Bad Ashes bewitch on Ash causes me to laugh out loud with every “My stunning lady.”

Having said that, I can’t imagine why they are releasing yet another SE DVD location of it. I enjoy the 2-disc Runt Edition which came out a few years ago. I can’t collect anything different about this novel “Boomstick Edition” that isn’t on the venerable Minute Edition. Both have the recent theatrical release and the director’s sever with 15 additional minutes of footage. Both have the Men Late The Army featurette. Both have the Raimi, Campbell, Raimi commentary. The only thing I’ve noticed so far is that the Boomstick edition comes with some kind of 10 page collectible book which my LE status didn’t have. But unless they made some drastic changes to either the video or audio to obvious up imperfections which I never noticed in the first status, I couldn’t define buying this modern edition. But if you don’t yet occupy Army of Darkness, don’t be a traditional screwhead. Click on the Capture It Now link and earn it.

Bikram Yoga Clothing: Nothing Beats Its Comfort During Yoga
There are standard items needed to carry out yoga. Usually these items tend to be low-cost and straightforward to acquire. Prior to deciding to perform yoga it’s greatest which you obtain these goods initially. These include a hand towel, water bottle, yoga mat and proper www.bikramguide.com. Because bikram yoga comprises someone to do 26 poses, the correct apparel should be put on. Bikram yoga clothing is a set of outfits for bikram yoga.
Bikrams yoga is performed inside a heated area, setting it different from other varieties of yoga. The warmed place assists enhance the energy and boosts flexibility. Well, one valid thing is that if you are exasperated because you bought the individual season DVD sets (like I did) and wished you waited to select the complete series box site for the extras and corrections, you need not sweat it. The missing epilogue and minutes to “The Darlings Are Coming” and the missing epilogue to “Barney Mends a Broken Heart” from season 3 were not restored to this area. The laugh tracks to a few episodes from season 4 have been restored, but that wasn’t a gigantic deal to me.
Buy,Download, Or Stream The Andy Griffith Show – The Complete Series! Click Here
The “extra extras” you derive from this series box status are available individually elsewhere if you discover around. The pilot “Danny Meets Andy Griffith” is available edited on the “Get Room for Daddy” 5th season DVD area. The pilot included here is also edited. You can also rep “Return to Mayberry” on DVD online and the other bonus is the episode “Opie Joins the Marines” where Opie visits Gomer on “Gomer Pyle USMC,” which will be released in that series’ second season area in a few months. I wish Paramount could have gathered some behind-the-scenes stuff or commentaries or interviews (the actors are not getting any younger and in unprejudiced the past few years, many notable TAGS people have died like Howard Morris and Don Knotts) . That would have made this space worth it, but nothing like that is included.
What bugs me the most, though, is the crummy packaging: Cardboard folders and pockets with cut-out photos on the characters printed on it. At least create it the same as the individual sets with the plastic, easy-to-use holders and the valiant and gleaming illustrations. It’s a immense series, I adore the shows (even the color episodes), but if you have already bought the seasons and are wondering if the series state is worth it, I would vote, ‘no.’ In fact, if you haven’t bought anything from this series yet, I would smooth determine the indivdual seasons to this position.
If you waited until now to seize any of the Andy Griffith Exhibit season sets, this is a decent deal. For those who already have one or more seasons, the current extras in this unique all-season space are no gigantic whoop and in my idea is not worth purchasing.
Buy,Download, Or Stream The Andy Griffith Show – The Complete Series! Click Here
The pilot episode included in this status is a syndicated version which is edited by about 2 and a half minutes. This is the same version already available on the Fabricate Room For Daddy – The Complete Fifth Season DVD situation. The corpulent length pilot had been released on VHS, but has been out-of-print for a few years now. Why couldn’t Paramount include the pudgy length version? We know it exists.
The two edited episodes in Season 3 remain edited. “The Darlings Are Coming” is the heavily slit syndicated version. “Barney Mends A Broken Heart” is tranquil missing its epilogue. Source material does exist that would restore these episodes.
The episodes on discs 1 and 2 of Season 4 that were missing the laugh tracks have been corrected (with the uncommon exception of the last few minutes of “A Shadowy Day For Mayberry” and “The Sermon For Today”, where the laughter has aloof not been re-inserted), but this was done contrivance before this original box situation was ever announced. If you have these discs without the laugh tracks, I contain Paramount is tranquil replacing them with the corrected ones. Glimpse my review of Season 4 for more details.
The “Opie Joins The Marines” episode of Gomer Pyle, USMC has been included. However, this will be released anyway when Season 2 of that series rolls around in a few months.
The TV movie, “Return To Mayberry” finally makes it’s design to DVD as a bonus feature in this space. It is uncut and presented unbiased as originally broadcast in 1986. Hopefully it will be released as a separate disc for those who already have some or all of this series.
Without even going into the packaging issues, this modern box dwelling is already somewhat of a disappointment. If you can afford it, stick with the individually released seasons.
